7. The Shadow

BACKGROUND

It was the week where we were asked to complete the task of 1 light, 1 shadow and 1 pattern. Luck was not on our side and it rained the entire week. It was easier to use a lamp to create a shadow of an object but I would rather come up with something like more creative in defining light and shadow. Therefore, one morning during class when it was raining, I captured the willow tree with its shadow reflected upon the wet road due to the rain and presented it as my light and shadow piece. Of course, one would think how the photo that I just captured relates to shadow and here is my simple explanation to it. Without light there would be no shadow, therefore sometimes you might think that a shadow is just a shadow. However when a shadow is cast over a glossy surface, the shadow becomes a reflection of the object. With this photo, I was striving to create the 70’s feeling very similar to the Vietnam War.

Life is only worth living when an individual is able to ponder and reflect upon life itself.
